Join us as we explore New Toronto, once one of the industrial engines of the city.
Discover the Etobicoke Lakeshore and the vestiges of former industries that make up its landscape. Learn about the community that now gives life to the area, including the innovative co-op housing on the former Goodyear Tire site along with the ever-changing Lake Shore strip. This tour is curated and led by Shawn Micallef.
As part of our partnership with StrollTO and our continued support of ShowLoveTO, we are happy to announce an extension of the 2021 tour season through November and December, with the presentation of eight unique tours.
We ask for your help and patience in making the experience as safe as possible for everyone. All in-person events will follow Toronto Public Health guidelines and enhanced Heritage Toronto safety measures including:
You will not be able to join a Tour group if you have not registered ahead of time through our website.
Our partner StrollTO invites you to register for this in-person Etobicoke Lakeshore Guided Walk free of charge.
For those of you moved by the generosity of our partners, a donation to support Heritage Toronto’s Tour program can still be made at the time of registration.
We have purchased individual sound systems to ensure physical distancing and improve the quality of the experience. Your system will be synched to a transmitter worn by the tour leader. It will sound like the tour leader is standing right next to you, even if you are 20 feet apart!
The number of people that can safely gather on tour will be determined by Public Health guidelines and may change over the course of the Tours season.
This will include contact tracing and self-screening for all participants.
We will also be introducing contactless payment methods on Tours for people who wish to make a donation to our charity.
This tour encounters mainly paved sidewalks and paths, however, there are some narrow and uneven sidewalks as well as grassy terrain.
For everyone’s safety and comfort, we respectfully ask all participants to wear a mask during in-person tours. Masks will be available upon request.
