This episode of VeraCity delves into the debate surrounding the commemoration of historical figures in Toronto, particularly focusing on those whose legacies are now viewed critically. It addresses key themes related to Toronto’s heritage, including the impacts of historical figures like Henry Dundas, who was involved in the slave trade. By exploring different aspects of Toronto’s history, the project aims to highlight various perspectives and encourage a more inclusive understanding of the city’s history.

By involving the community in discussions about the costs and benefits of such changes—both financial and moral—the project stimulates dialogue on diversity and the values that should guide historical commemoration. It engages the public with high production value and empowering storytelling, offering a nuanced framework for discussing history and heritage in a way that resonates with the city’s diverse experiences and past.
