Discover the city through art and Indigenous storytelling, and see Toronto in a whole new way.

Explore the enduring Indigenous presence in the Bathurst and St. Clair area through its parks, public art, and community spaces. Visit murals in the area depicting wolves, guardians, and layered landscapes, while learning about the Medicine Wheel, the Dish With One Spoon, Orange Shirt Day, and Indigenous-led care. Along the way, you’ll hear inspiring stories of Indigenous resistance, healing, and community-building that continue to shape Toronto.

This tour will be led by Mike Buckland. Born in Burlington and now based in Toronto, Mike remains deeply connected to his community of Membertou First Nation in Unama’ki (Cape Breton). With over 15 years of experience as an educator, he is dedicated to making history engaging, accessible, and grounded in lived experience. Mike works as an Instructor with the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres, delivering training that addresses Indigenous-specific racism and supports systems change. His work is rooted in storytelling, relationship-building, and community knowledge, bringing forward Indigenous presence, resilience, and voices in urban spaces.
