Creating Toronto Community Event
Meet us at St. Lawrence Market and discover how today’s megacity started from 1793 plans for a ten-block townsite in the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood that included allotments for a church, jail, and courthouse.

About the Community Event
Join us at the Heritage Toronto tent to explore the hidden gems of the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood, once the old Town of York. We will be stationed by St. Lawrence Market under the Heritage Toronto tent with historical interpretation about the histories that contributed to creating Toronto!
Guided tours will be offered at 12:00pm and 2:00pm. Tours are approximately one hour and will start and end at the Heritage Toronto tent.
Tours will be led by Emerging Historian Elizabeth Compa.
These events are free and no pre-registration is required. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the tour start time.
Alternate dates
This community event will also take place on August 24 with tours at 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
Further Information
This event runs rain or shine! Tours last for approximately one hour and takes place mostly on city sidewalks and in city parks. Please be aware there are some grade changes on route. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and consider bringing sunscreen and water to make your tour as enjoyable as possible.
