This Greek Revival row-house was purchased by the community for William Lyon Mackenzie, the first Mayor of Toronto, a leader of the 1837 Upper Canada Rebellion and an outspoken newspaper editor. He lived in the house from 1859 until 1861, the year of his death. Built in 1857, this house would have been part of a terrace, several adjoining buildings of the same design.
