Join us on October 13 for a special celebration of Toronto's 175th!
In 2009, Heritage Toronto is hosting a very special event on behalf of our City's 175th birthday.
This year we are delighted to have Mary Ito, host of CBC Radio's "Living in Toronto" and "Fresh Air" programs, join us as our Emcee for the Awards portion of the evening. The Heritage Toronto Awards will be followed by a one-off event that is a bit of a departure from the usual format of the William Kilbourn Memorial Lecture.
For 2009 we introduce The Great Toronto Roast, Heritage Toronto's birthday party for our City's 175th year. Hosted by Soulpepper Theatre founder and actor Albert Schultz, the evening will offer an array of guests who all have one thing in common - a love for their city. Special guests of roasters and toasters will include former Mayor David Crombie, dub poet and actor d'bi young, poet and writer Dennis Lee, journalist and author Jan Wong, with special appearances by Yuk Yuks and Second City.
This year's program will take place on Tuesday, October 13th at the historic Carlu. Check back on our website for more updates, including award nominees and the full line-up for the Roast!
