Great Toronto Roast

Special Achievement Award Presentation to Stephen Otto

The Heritage Toronto Awards celebrate outstanding contributions - by professionals and volunteers - in the promotion and conservation of Toronto's history and heritage landmarks.

In 2009, Heritage Toronto hosted a very special event on behalf of our City's 175th birthday.

Mary ItoMary ItoMayor David Miller joined us again as our Honorary Host for the pre-event Mayor's Reception. We were also delighted to have Mary Ito, host of CBC Radio's "Living in Toronto" and "Fresh Air" programs, join us as our Emcee for the Awards portion of the evening.

The Heritage Toronto Awards were followed by a one-off event that was a departure from the usual format of the William Kilbourn Memorial Lecture.

For 2009 we introduced The Great Toronto Roast, Heritage Albert SchultzAlbert SchultzToronto's birthday party for our City's 175th year. Hosted by Soulpepper Theatre founder and actor Albert Schultz, the evening offered an array of guests who all have one thing in common - a love for their city. Special guests of roasters and toasters included former Mayor David Crombie, dubpoet and actor d'bi young, poet and writer Dennis Lee, journalist and author Jan Wong, with special appearances by Yuk Yuks and Second City. For the line-up, see below.
