Elizabeth Philbert is the founder and publisher of Healthy Knowledge (HK) Magazine; a monthly Canadian wellness, ethnic health and lifestyle magazine published in Toronto since 2008. In 2010 she was presented by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Editor/Publisher for ‘Excellent Concept and Visual Presentation" of Healthy Knowledge Magazine. Born in Trinidad, Elizabeth grew up in Toronto and has a long history of public activism and entrepreneurship. Recent accomplishments include her contribution in the successful $3.0 million Ministry of Long-Term Care - Ontario grant, to build the TAIBU Community Health Centre in Scarborough and Trillium Gift of Life grant, for the 2009 ‘Health Expo' at the International Drum Festival. A member of the steering committee for the Heart & Stroke Foundation: Black Leadership Health Initiative, Elizabeth also volunteers her time to procure funding and sponsorship for Camp Jumoke; a summer camp for children who suffer from Sickle Cell Anemia. A Big Sister for nine years, Elizabeth spoke at several public events on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto. She is currently engaged on a health promotion speaking tour throughout Ontario libraries, associations and universities.
