The last remaining public landmark of the historic community of Lambton Mills, Lambton Tavern was built in 1847 and operated as an inn and tavern for 140 years. Also known as Lambton House, it served as the centre of social activity for the area, served as a station on the stagecoach route on Old Dundas Road, and served as a nice getaway for city residents who wanted a trip to the "country." The brick structure survived the devastating fire of 1915 and Hurricane Hazel in 1954. Lambton House has been restored and is now operating as a local museum.
